Mark Smith didn't start a construction company — he continued a family tradition. His son Austin is doing the same thing. This is what that looks like when it's real.

What started as watching and learning on job sites as a teenager became a 40-year career — and then a company. Rainier Custom Homes was built on the premise that a builder who cares about every nail, every frame, and every client relationship is worth waiting for.

Mark Smith grew up around construction. His father had been a builder before him, and Mark spent his teenage years watching, learning, and eventually doing — on job sites around Florida.
Mark built Rainier Custom Homes alongside his father, starting the company in 2004 around three things he'd seen too many builders get wrong: transparency, craftsmanship, and actually returning a phone call.
After decades of building across Central Florida, Mark passed the company to his son Austin — who grew up on those same job sites. Mark is now retired, and the standard he built the company on is the same one Austin holds every subcontractor to today.

Austin Smith didn't choose construction by accident. He grew up on job sites with his father, and by the time he was old enough to drive, he already understood how a house came together — from the foundation pour to the final trim.
Austin went on to earn a degree in Business Management from Lynn University in Boca Raton, bringing a formal understanding of operations, client management, and business development back to the family company. That combination — field experience from childhood, plus a business education — is what makes Austin effective.
Today Austin runs the day-to-day of Rainier Custom Homes: client communication, subcontractor scheduling, site management, and project coordination. When you work with Rainier, Austin is your primary point of contact — and he will always be reachable.

The Rainier Timeline
Mark officially launched Rainier Custom Homes, centering the company on ground-up custom construction across Central Florida's fastest-growing markets.
After a career built alongside his father, Mark stepped into a well-earned retirement. Austin took full ownership of day-to-day operations — client relationships, subcontractor management, and project oversight — carrying the same standard forward.
Rainier is currently running 17 homes in active construction or permitting across Orlando, Lake Mary, and Leesburg — the most active pipeline in company history.
